International Plastic Bag Free Day, celebrated on July 3, is a global initiative that aims to eliminate the use of plastic bags. Plastic bags may seem like a grocery shopping convenience, but they are also a huge strain on the environment. It can take up to 500 years for plastic bags to disintegrate, so they make up a large portion of what stays in our landfills and pollutes our waterways.

1.Reduce your carbon foot print on Nature Parents can encourage kids to start using a carbon footprint calculator to estimate how much energy kids are using. Then determine ways to use less, like unplugging electronics when they’re not being used, or charging their games, tablets and phones using solar energy.
2. Buy less; share and swap more. Consumption drives climate change. It takes energy to produce, package, ship, and even throw away the stuff we buy like clothes, electronics and other gadgets, cosmetics and personal care products, and trendy fads that go out of style almost overnight.

3. Use social media to encourage friends to register and voice out ! Make use of social media toolkits , hashtags to promote Environmental awareness amongst the people.
4. Encourage Planting of Trees Trees provide shade. They filter the air. They give birds a place to nest. And once they get big enough, they’re great for climbing. Trees can also reduce a school’s energy costs and make the school a more pleasant place to go. Students can easily plant young saplings and then help keep them watered
5. Encourage Group Clean up initiatives. By allowing children to experience the harsh truth of Climate change ,parents also need to encourage Immediate Climate Action amongst the children. Be it a simple clean up of the neighborhood, beach , or Group clean up drives.
